Penn State World Campus Online Faculty Development partners with The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost and the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs to offer a Foundations for Online Teaching endorsement.
Eligibility
Endorsements are available for Penn State full- and part-time faculty members only. Endorsements are not available to Penn State graduate students. Graduate students can enroll in the Graduate Student Online Teaching Certificate.
Foundations for Online Teaching Endorsement
This four-course, online program helps you develop essential competence in online teaching. Courses build confidence in teaching online, using Canvas, practicing inclusivity, and responding to student needs you are likely to encounter. Courses can be taken in any order and include:
- OL 1200: Student Support and Advocacy in Online Learning (self-directed)
- OL 2000: Essentials of Online Teaching (instructor-led)
- OL 2150: Canvas Hands On (instructor-led)
- OL 3000: Supporting Accommodations for Online Learners (self-directed)
Courses Are Now Open for Enrollment
Visit the Online Faculty Development Course Catalog to register. After you have completed all four courses, fill out the form below to apply for your endorsement.
Applying for Your Endorsement in Foundations for Online Teaching
After you have completed all four courses in the program, apply for your endorsement using the form below.
You will receive a confirmation email after submitting the application. After your course completions are confirmed, Online Faculty Development will forward your name to the Provost Endorsement committee. Please allow 4–6 weeks to receive confirmation of your endorsement on your transcript.
