OL 3800.01: Excellence in Academic Advising: Building a Foundation

This course examines the foundations of academic advising as essential components of student success and retention in higher education. Topics include philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of academic advising; understanding the Penn State curriculum and student record systems; developing advising skills, including advising diverse student populations; and the legal and ethical issues in academic advising.

General Course Outline
This course will provide information, resources, learning activities, and feedback regarding the following topics of academic advising in higher education. These topics are also titles for the five course modules:
