In the real world, accommodation and accessibility issues often arise when we receive notification of a needed accommodation. In real life, you are often confronted with a question or dilemma, and some action is needed, perhaps well before you fully understand all of the issues, protocols, or possible solutions. So, this course foregoes the standard online course framework and first presents a scenario that situates you in a problem at the beginning of each module.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- identify necessary steps when you receive a letter of accommodation
- support students with flexibility accommodations
- support students with experiencing mental health issues or with mental health–related accommodations
- support students with hearing-related accommodations
- support students with vision-related accommodations
- support students who use text-to-speech tools
- identify resources for building accessibility into a course
